The Clinical Effects of Tiapride in the Treatment of Chronic Alcoholism





Abstract
Authors had applied Zung¢¥s Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS), Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS), Mini Mental State (MMS), and Side Effect Scale to the chronic alcoholism inpatients (15 cases) for the purpose of evaluating the change of anxiety, depression, cognitive function, and side effects during the 4 weeks treatment with tiapride.
The results were summarized as follow.
1. After 3 weeks¢¥ treatment, we found total scores of MMSE, SAS, SDS had been changed significantly, compared with them before the treatment (p<0.05, p<0.01, p2. Side effects such as sleepiness and dizziness mildly appeared.
Form these results, tiapride with usual doses (300-600 mg/day) has been evaluated as useful in the treatment of chronic alcoholism associated with anxiety and depression.
